The Kokoda Campaign / Battle of Milne. (jul 21, 1942 – nov 16, 1942)
Description:
Japan attempted to take control of Port Moresby and Papua New Guinea, which was part of Australia at the time. The Australian Army decided to send their reserve forces to Papua New Guinea. They fought on the Kokoda Track, but were pushed back by the Japanese Army.
The soldier on the Kokoda track were sick, tired, and covered in mud, Papua New Guinean war carrieds, dubbed by soldiers as 'Fuzzy Wuzzy Angels' would bring supplies to them.
In August 1942, Japanese marines landed at Milne Bay. The Australian troops and the Royal Australian Air Force defeated them on 7th September, 1942.
