Formation of Muscovy (jan 2, 1225 – jan 1, 1475)
Description:
Many Slavs fled into the nearby forests when the Mongols invaded Kievan Rus. There they settled, and one settlement on the Moskva River grew into the great city of Moscow. This city slowly gained more and more territory and power, becoming the capital of Muscovy. Muscovy kept peace with the Mongols for over 200 years, helping collect taxes from other territories.
