Geoffrey Chaucer & Canterbury Tales (jan 1, 1345 – jan 1, 1400)

Description:

Chaucer is the first ‘finder’ of the English language, sometimes called the father of the English literature. He was a courtier, a diplomat, and a civil servant. His poetry made three important contributions to English literature: he wrote in the English Vernacular and he is credited with introducing iambic pentameter and the Rhyme Royal to English poetry. He is best known for The Canterbury Tales which contain insights into medieval attitudes and society, from gutter to court. It consists of 24 stories, the general prologue introduces 30 pilgrims on the way to a shrine
