Margret Sanger (jan 1, 1921 – jan 1, 1928)

Description:

Margaret Sanger fought for the legalization of birth control in the United States. She is credited with being the founder of Planned Parenthood. Sanger wrote articles about women and sex, which the government did not like and tried to have her arrested for it. She instead fled to England where she continued to develop means of contraception. She later returned to the United States after smuggling in diaphragms. Sanger and her sister Ethel, eventually open America's first birth control clinic which was raided 9 days after opening. Both Sanger and Ethel spent 30 days in jail. Margaret Sanger was president of the American Birth Control League for 7 years, she was also the founder.
