Underground Railroad (jan 1, 1831 – jan 1, 1863)
Description:
The Underground Railroad was and operation of free African American slaves, as well as whites who offered shelter and aided in journey to free slaves from the South. A well known conductor the of the Underground Railroad is Harriet Tubman who made nineteen trips through the Underground Railroad freeing around 70+ slaves. Around 100,000 slaves escaped through the Underground Railroad.
