Bleeding Kansas 1855-1860 (jan 1, 1855 – jan 1, 1860)
Description:
After the Kansas-Nebraska Act, supporters of both sides rushed into the territory of Kansas. Rival governments of anti-slavery settlers and the pro-slavery Missouri transplants battled to try and claim popular soverignty for their side. This led to pro-slavery forces crossing into Kansas and killing anti-slavery settlers.
