Description:

George H.W.Bush and Gorbachev meet to review US policies towards the Soviet Union. He did not take the view that the Cold War was defiantly over.
Arms control negotiations continued in September 1989. They were aiming to finalise START.
Communist regimes had fallen by this summit, and moves were made towards a closer economic relationship between the Soviet Union and the USA.
Marked the end of the economic war.
Gorbachev made it clear he would not stop the Eastern European states from determining their own political futures.
Less agreement on unification of Germany so Bush agreed to not intervene.
This paved the way for the Conventional Forces in Europe Treaty (CFE Treaty) that was signed by Gorbachev and Bush in Paris in 1990.
Limits were placed on the scale of military hardwear.
