Battle of the Atlantic (sep 3, 1939 – may 8, 1945)
Description:
During the Second World War, Great Britain relied on America to bring them supplies from overs seas. The merchant ships that were used to carry the much-needed supplies were extremely vulnerable to German U-boat submarines wishing to sever the supply chain heading to Britain. To protect the boats, they would group together in convoys accompanied by battleships. Many skirmishes broke out on the water leading to this event being a major connerstone in naval military history.
