Niels Bohr (jan 1, 1885 – jan 1, 1962)
Description:
Niels Bohr (1885-1962), a student of Ernest Rutherford's, proposed a nuclear model in which electrons were arranged in concentric rings around the nucleus of the atom, known as the Bohr Planetary Model (1913) due to its resemblance to the solar system. The theory stated that electrons occupy only one ring in the atom and cannot change orbits, that each orbit has a certain energy, and that energy is absorbed when an electron jumps to a higher orbit and is released when it falls to a lower orbit.
