Description:
Vlad III is best known for his struggle for independence and Achaia against the threats of the Ottoman Empire. In addition, he was known for his toughness and cruelty on which many stories and legends are based, headed by the legend of the "Count Dracula" by the Irish writer Baram Stoker. His character has also inspired many feature films, many of them horror films.
Vlad executed thousands of people (he said - tens of thousands). He was called the "impaler" because his favorite form of execution was threading a skewer: blowing a person's body (sometimes after tying it) on a pointed rod and leaving it there while its weight would cause the rod to continue penetrating its body and dying in agony. Vlad used to use other cruel methods in persecuting dissidents and criminals. Numbers that in his time it was possible to leave a bag of gold coins on the street and no one would dare to touch it for fear of the expected punishment.
