French and Indian War (jan 1, 1756 – feb 10, 1763)

Description:

The French and Indian war, also known as the Seven Years War, was a war between Britain and France over the topic of land (particularly France’s expansion into the Ohio river valley, which caused conflicts between the French and the British colonies). The war was officially declared in 1756. The peace conference of 1763 determined that Britain received Canada and Florida, and that France got to keep its Western Sugar islands. Spain received Louisiana. Overall, the American colonies were strengthened due to the fact that the Mississippi River Valley was opened up for expansion and the North and South was now cleared from European rivals.
