Description:
Abraham Lincoln was the 16th president of the United States. He was elected November of 1860, shortly before the Civil War began. Lincoln wrote the Gettysburg Address and the Emancipation Proclamation which would pave the way for the abolishment of slavery. In April of 1865, Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth. He is regarded by many as one of America’s greatest presidents. This led to the Emancipation Proclamation, as Lincoln was the author.
