Description:
Meriwether Lewis, Thomas Jefferson’s private secretary, and Lieutenant William Clark on an expedition west. They traveled from the Mississippi River (near IL), to the Pacific Ocean and then back to St. Louis. As they traveled, they marked plants, animals and the land. Sacagawea was along with them, although accounts vary on how she came to join them and the exact role she played in their success.
