Alice Paul (mar 3, 1913 – aug 18, 1920)

Description:

Although Alice Paul started out fighting for Women's suffrage in Britain, she was still a very important figure in American history when it came to suffrage for women. After joining suffragists in the U.S., Paul and other suffragists parade in Washington D.C. the day that the new president, Wilson gets sworn in. Alice later created the National Woman’s party and picketed the White House which led to her being jailed on multiple occasions. By picketing the White House, Paul brought national attention to the fight for women's suffrage eventually leading to the ratification of the 19th amendment, granting women the right to vote.
