American Offensive in PTO (apr 28, 1942 – aug 14, 1945)
Description:
After Pearl Harbor, American forces began using island hopping tactics to push their way to the Japanese mainland. Two of the last islands, Iwo Jima and Okinawa, proved especially difficult to take. Shortly after Harry Truman became president, two atomic bombs were dropped, and the war was over. The Atomic bomb forced the surrender, the Japanese unwilling to combat such a weapon.
