Description:
The Council was held in connection with the 1000th anniversary of the Christianization of Rus'. The most important outcome of the Council was the adoption of a new charter of the Russian Orthodox Church and the canonization of nine zealots of Orthodoxy (Dmitry of the Don, Andrei Rublev, Maximus the Greek, Macarius of Moscow, Paisius Velichkovsky, Xenia of Saint Petersburg, Ignatius Brianchaninov, Ambrose of Optina, Theophan the Recluse).Собор состоялся в связи с тысячелетием крещения Руси. Важнейшим итогом Собора стало принятие нового устава Русской православной церкви и канонизация девяти ревнителей православия (Дмитрия Донского, Андрея Рублева, Максима Грека, Макария Московского, Паисия Величковского, Ксении Петербургской, Игнатия Брянчанинова, Амвросия Оптинского, Феофана Затворника).
