Prohibition (jan 1, 1920 – jan 1, 1933)
Description:
A nationwide outlawing of the production and sale of alcohol within the United States. Prohibition was not enforced well, and from it stemmed "bootlegging" and speakeasies. Congress, in 1933, passed the 21st amendment which in effect ratified the 18th amendment, which is what started the Prohibition movement in the first place.
