Bleeding Kansas (may 1, 1854 – jan 1, 1861)

Description:

Kansas-Nebraska Act was the last attempt to decrease the tension building between the Northern and Southern states of the US before the American Civil War. Bleeding Kansas was a result of President Pierce and Senator Douglas decision of making the Act. It was making citizens (Kansas and Nebraska) choose if they want to be a free state or a slave state. The tension in these states got higher and higher, and eventually it burst. The out come was an attack at Lawrence, Kansas, starting the mini Civil War.
