Description:
In 1958, Mao Zedong started the Great Leap Forward, which was a 5 year plan to advance China's economy. People were forced to work in communes, and meals were served in public mess halls. Due to many factors, this plan failed and caused a famine that resulted in the death of 40,000,000 people.
