Battle of Britain (may 19, 1940 – nov 1, 1940)
Description:
Over the summer and fall of 1940, the Germans, realizing they couldn't cross the English Channel with their army, crossed it with their planes. They flew thousands of air raids over Great Britain, bombing everything they could see. The Royal Air Force, or RAF, were in the air all the time, defending British airspace. They shot down almost 2,000 German planes during the Battle of Britain.
