Magnus rules Norway and Denmark (jun 8, 1042 – jan 1, 1047)

Description:

When Harthacnut dies in Jun 1047, Magnus claims the kingdom of Denmark. Though this is initially contested by Sweyn Estrithson, Cnut's nephew, some time during 1046 Magnus drove out Sweyn and turned his eye on England. Emma of Normandy allegedly plots to bring him to England and gives him some of her wealth to do so. However, by 1045, Sweyn is enough of a thorn in Magnus' side that he has to postpone plans of invasion.
