Godwin's nephew Beorn is Earl of south-east Midlands (17h 45min, jan 1, 1045 y – jun 1, 1049)

Description:

Godwin's nephew Beorn made Earl of south-east Midlands. He was nephew of Cnut and Godwin, as well as brother to Sweyn Estrithson. He was a beneficiary of Swein Godwinson's lands when he was first sent into exile, and despite helping him to a pardon, may have refused to hand back land. In any case, Beorn was murdered by Swein and buried in Dartmouth, after Swein had secured his pardon. This time Swein was banished and declared niðing. He was eventually reburied by Harold in the Old Minster of Winchester by Harold, adjacent to his uncle Cnut.
