Description:
Jewish temple in Leontopolis on the Nile Delta in Egypt (near Alexandria), today called Tel El Yehudiye.
Founded by the high priest Onias, who had been exiled from the Land of Israel during the events of the Greek Exile. This temple served the local Jewish community and is mentioned in the Talmud.
