Yeshiva of Pumbedita (jan 1, 254 – jan 1, 1058)
Description:
One of the major academies in which the Amoraim and Geonim learned and taught, and in which the Babylonian Talmud was composed. Located in Pumbedita, Iraq (today al-Fallujah, Iraq) for most of its history, but located in Mechoza (al-Mada'in, Iraq) from 339-352, and relocated permanently to Baghdad in 990.
