2. Russia overthrew Mongol rule in Moscow (1450's-1480's)- Russia slowly takes back control of its territory

3. Sikhism begins (1469)- a religious standoff in central Europe

4. Columbus in America (1492)- Opened the door for the Columbian exchange and major conquest

5. Safavid Empire (1501-1722)- Largest Sh'ia empire at the time-- at odds with the Sunni Ottoman Empire.

6. Mughal Empire (1526-1748)- Had two rulers. Akbar who practiced religious tolerance and Aurangzeb, who persecuted Hindus and Sikhs

7. Scientific revolution (1550-1700)- a time of major educational change. began to rely less on religion

8. Jamestown (1607)- Beginning of British colonization of America

9. Qing Empire (1688-1911)- Foreigner rule in china (Manchus). Strict, old traditions

10. The Enlightenment (1715-1789)- A time of social, religious, and educational change
