Hungarian Revolution (0h 3min, oct 22, 1956 y – 4h 18min, nov 10, 1957 y)

Description:

22nd October students in Budapest demonstrated and listed 16 demands. Included the appointment of Nagy as Prime Minister and the withdrawal of Soviet troops from Hungary, freedom of speech and free press and multi-party elections.
Worker's groups joined and took power from Communist local authorities.
24th October, Nagy was Prime Minister and let with the USSR to persuade them that there was no need for an invasion as the revolt could be calmed.
28th October, Khrushchev agreed to withdraw Soviet troops from Budapest. The revolt was a wider national movement. This was a result from pressure applied by China as they were backing the Hungarian's.
31st October Moscow reversed its decision. They moved as they feared the collapse of Communism in Hungary.
1st November, Nagy announced the withdrawal from the Warsaw Pact.
3rd November, 15 divisions of the Red Army and 4,000 tanks surrounded Budapest, which crushed the rising in a few days.
Kadar was installed as the new Prime Minister.
4,000 Hungarian's killed, 200,000 went into seld-imposed exile.
