Guadalcanal (aug 7, 1942 – feb 9, 1943)
Description:
Beginning what the US called “Island Hopping” starts with the Solomon Islands. While the jungle’s strange conditions turn fighting into an arduous ordeal, the US eventually overcome the Japanese army over the course of six months.
As a result of constantly fighting in the jungles of the Solomon Islands, US commanders finally learned how to traverse the wild. The help from Navajo Native Americans and the tribe’s complex communication helped the relationship between the US government and the Native Americans, too, with much gratitude.
