Description:

- The British government agreed to purchase all Australian wool produce for the duration of the war, at a higher price.
- It was urgently required to manufacture military uniforms and blankets that in scarce supply for the United Kingdom.
- This stimulated Australian agriculture trade exports by having so much demand for agriculture and especially wool, becoming the catalyst for making wool Australia's prime, stable export for many decades.
- In contrast, minerals and mining fell in prices and export value for Australia.
