The Roaring Twenties (jan 1, 1920 – oct 29, 1929)

Description:

During this time period, After the war Canada was trying to become more independent from Britain, they did this by obtaining their own seat in the league of nations and not taking part when Britain called for help in a small war. Canadian Culture also grew in the twenties. many things like jazz music and clothing trends were the hot topics of the 20's.In this time period, women also received the right to vote which was a huge opportunity for them, and after the persons case in 1929, women were recognized as actual people and had more opportunities for jobs and such. Many new inventions also came out, for example the car was an amazing invention, although it was only available for the more rich of the community. Although everything wasn't good though, prairie farmers lost a lot of revenue so a lot of them moved to the city to find work but since men who had served in the war had come back there was a surplus of workers but not enough work to go around. although things weren't down for long as Canada's raw materials were heavily requested by other countries, mainly the USA. A lot of people became miners and wheat farmers as those were the most wanted jobs and as a result of that, Canada's econommy sky rocketed and things were good.
