Lincoln-Douglas Debates (aug 21, 1858 – oct 15, 1858)
Description:
The Lincoln-Douglas debates were a series of seven debates. The debates were between Abraham Lincoln, the Republican candidate for the United States Senate, and Stephen Douglas, the Democratic party candidate. These two argued issues about popular sovereignty, and the Dred Scott decision. Douglas ended up winning these debates, however Lincoln’s arguments were very strong and he gained positive attention.
