Son of Robert Cromwell and Elizabeth Steward.
Married Elizabeth Bourchier on 22 August 1620 and had nine children.
Oliver Cromwell took forced control of England from Parliament. He dissolved the Rump Parliament and entered a period called The Protectorate and named himself Lord Protector. Made the country a Puritan state and banned all activities of enjoyment, despite secretly enjoying smoking and music himself.
