William's 2nd Phase (mar 1, 1041 – dec 28, 1043)
Description:
William's second phase as Duke - French interference and taking the reigns.
Having helped the plotters, Henry demands the surrender of a Norman castle called Tillieres, which may have been sheltering French rebels. The Normans agreed. One year later, Henry sponsored a rebellion in the heart of Normandy, supplying soldiers to a viscount who had seized William's birthplace of Falaise, and himself invaded the south of the duchy. Some time between these two events, William seems to have taken more control. He, not his regents, decided to deal with the Viscounts, according to William of Jumieges. William c.15?
