The French/ Indian War (mar 4, 1754 – sep 3, 1763)
Description:
There had been three previous inconclusive wars between France and Britain while they were both trying to colonize North America, and this one came up after 6 years of relative peace in the Ohio River Valley. It originally started when the French tried build a fort on land that wasn’t theirs to take and in response the governor of Virginia sent troops to attack them, but for the first part of the war, the French beat the British for the most part. There was then a turning point when new leadership came in for the British and they finally started getting some victories and they finally defeated the French and ended the war in 1763 with the signing of the Treaty of Paris. The British got control of Canada and much of North America as well as Florida.
