9 Years’ War and King William’s War (jan 1, 1688 – jan 1, 1697)

Description:

The Nine Years War was from 1688-1697. King Williams War was part of the 9 Years War and was fought in North America. There were already tensions in America over the fur trade. Despite England having more troops in America than the French, they still lost a lot of land. King Louis XIV of France invaded Rhineland in Germany which started the war. It was fought in Europe, India, and North America. There is some dispute among historians about whether or not it should be considered the first world war. Eventually, the French won and they took more of Rhineland.
