Homo Erectus (jan 1, 1800000 BC – jan 1, 200000 BC)

Description:

Homo Erectus
(Ho-moe---"E"-rek-tus)

Homo Erectus was the first of our relatives to have human-like body proportions, with shorter arms and longer legs relative to its torso.

Home Erectus was also thought to be the first of our ancestors to hunt animals. Archaeologists have unearthed what could be the earliest evidence of ancient human ancestors hunting and scavenging meat, they were also the first of our ancestors to cook food.

Homo erectus also had the ability to also use fire, though they could not make it.

Scientists also believe they built shelters to protect them from the elements (water, wind….)

They also survived longer than any other hominid.

Homo erectus means upright man

Also, the Homo erectus had bigger brains that allowed them to create more complex tools, which helped them hunt.

It was also the first known hominin to migrate out of Africa. Homo Erectus traveled into other parts of Africa and Europe, they also explored parts of southern Asia. They also were the first to hunt, thus makes me believe maybe when they migrated to other places they had to hunt other animals to stay alive.
