Description:
Sir Walter Raleigh was born around 1554, in Hayes Barton, near Budleigh Salterton, Devon, England, and died on October 29, 1618, in London. He was an English adventurer and writer, a favorite of Queen Elizabeth I, who knighted him in 1585. He was accused of treason by Elizabeth’s successor, James I, and was imprisoned in the Tower of London and eventually put to death.
