- Andrey Yeryomenko was the Soviet general- The battle took place in the town of Stalingrad, named after Stalin
- The Soviets successfully defended the town and stopped the German advance into the Soviet Union, the German troops were not prepared for the cold weather.
- The battle is considered to be the greatest of the entire war as it was a key factor for the Allied victory. While also leaving nearly two million men dead.
