Chinese Civil War (jan 1, 1927 – jan 1, 1949)
Description:
(Term 2) A war between the KMT (Kuomintang) and the CCP (Communist Party of China) that lasted for about 22 years was interrupted in the 1930s by attacks from Japan during World War II. The war decided whether or not China would run a communist government.
1. It decided who would run China. Whether it was the power seeking communists or the U.S. inspired capitalists, the fate of China was decided by this long and complex war.
2. The communist's victory strengthened the people's faith in their leaders and system. Their faith in the government allowed their leaders to make sketchy decisions but keep the people's confidence in the government.
3. This war led up to the Great Leap Forward and the Great Chinese Famine during which millions of people died. (Though it was a terrible thing to happen to the Chinese people, it was still an important part of history that should not be forgotten)
