Jefferson Presidency (mar 4, 1801 – mar 4, 1809)

Description:

Thomas Jefferson was the 3rd U.S. President and is on the American two dollar bill (although they don't print them anymore). Jefferson was elected in 1800 and served 2 terms. He is known for his purchasing of the Louisiana Territory and of course the writing of the Declaration of Independence. Jefferson wanted to move the power back into the hands of the state governments instead of the federal. When he got into office he lowered taxes and reduced the federal budget, making him very popular with the people.
