Description:
The Townshend Acts were a series of 4 acts issued from June 15, 1767 - July 2, 1767, in an attempt to assert what it considered to be its historic right to exert authority over the colonies through suspension of a recalcitrant representative assembly and strict provisions. The Townshend Acts imposed taxes on glass, lead, paints, paper and tea imported into the colonies.
