Cipriano de Rore (jan 1, 1516 – jan 1, 1565)
Description:
He was a franco-flemish composer who specialized in madrigals. He contributed mainly to the middling stages of the madrigal, introducing the preference for setting Patrarchan sonnets to them. Rore also explored and experimented with harmony and rhythm, getting more harmonically progressive throughout his lifetime. Additionally, text expression increasingly depends on the harmonies that accompany the text.
