Paris (jan 1, 1533 – dec 31, 1533)

Description:

Shortly after his conversion, Calvin met Nicolas Cop, who was a rector of the University of Paris. Cop preached an opening address one winter at the university Calvin was attending. It is believed that Calvin assisted Cop with the writing of the address which included the bold attacks on leading theologians' heretical views. Causing such an uproar, Calvin was forced to leave Paris, hiding at the estate of Louis du Tillet in Switzerland. While avoiding arrest, Calvin took advantage of du Tillet's library full of great Reformers. He became a self-taught theologian spending time studying Augustine and many of the early Church Fathers.
