Attack on Fort Sumter (apr 12, 1861 – apr 14, 1861)
Description:
The battle of Fort Sumter was the start of the Civil war. The fort, near Charleston, was the main source of tension between the Union and the Confederacy, and it eventually led the Confederacy to bombard and fire shots at the Union. There were no deaths during this battle, however the significance was the secession of some southern states from the Union following this battle.
