Declare war on Germany, to gain control of german concessions in Shangdong province bc sphere of influence, Treaty of Versailles then gives German sphere to Japan. Sparks May 4th demonstrations.War lords taxed and squeezed peasants to feed and fund army (reason for love of communism). Some printed money and caused inflation.Added to timeline:
