Mexican War (apr 23, 1846 – feb 2, 1848)
Description:
A war fought between Mexico and the United States over a border dispute near the Rio Grande river. The United States won the war decisively, marching into Mexico City in 1848 and forcing the Mexican Government to sign the Treaty of Guadalupe-Hidalgo and cede land which would later form the states of California, New Mexico, Arizona, and other states as well as forcing Mexico to recognize that Texas is officially part of the United States.
