Wisconsin's Place in the Civil War (apr 12, 1861 – may 13, 1865)
Description:
During 1861 to 1865 more than 91,000 young men had to leave Wisconsin to go fight in the South. Over 12,000 of those men never returned. Wisconsin women had to take over the men’s jobs in fields and factories. Some Wisconsin people did not care for the war. Soldiers that came back became famous for their bravery and a bald eagle was the mascot.
