Many of the soldiers that went into this war didn’t come back. Over 12,000 died, 3,802 died in action or wounds, and 8,499 died from other causes or a disease. There was also others that died some of the Confederate’s prisons like Andersonville in Sumter County, Georgia, and Libby in Richmond, Virginia. People in Wisconsin didn’t like the idea of Lincoln and the Civil War. As the war continued and finished many families lost their fathers and sons to the war and soon backed Lincoln’s efforts to preserve the Union.
