Apollo 11 was the spaceflight that first landed humans on the Moon. Commander Neil Armstrong and lunar module pilot Buzz Aldrin formed the American crew that landed the Apollo Lunar Module Eagle. Armstrong and Edwin Aldrin spent two hours on the lunar surface setting up observation equipment and collecting rock samples. Armstrong is the man who famously declared: "That's one small step for man, one giant leap for mankind."
