Consequences of Montenegro's & Serbia's Independence Declarations. (jan 1, 2006 – dec 31, 2008)

Description:

Montenegro holds a referendum on whether to separate from Serbia. A month later, Montenegro announces its independence and Serbia responds with its own declaration of independence. Serbia holds its referendum to approve a new constitution and it continues to assert that Kosovo is an integral part of the country. Kosovo’s Albanian majority boycott the vote and declares itself independent. Serbia rejects the claim calling it illegal.
