New Imperialism (jan 1, 1870 – jan 1, 1914)
Description:
The era of New Imperialism is marked by countries all over the world making technological advancements, territorial conquests, and using other means to expand their empires. The Western Powers, as well as Japan, annexed most of Africa and some of Asia. Rivalries grew between the major world powers as their power increased. New resources and markers were introduced, and economies grew, as well as a desire to spread western ideas and culture. Many of the colonies set up during this time gained their independence after WWII.
